Job Description: Finance Manager
Overview
The Finance Manager at JDS (assumed abbreviation for the company name) is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Develop and maintain comprehensive financial plans, budgets, and forecasts. Analyze variances between actual and budgeted results, identifying trends and providing recommendations for corrective action.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Budget Management: Manage the budget process, including working with department heads to develop budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet the company’s obligations. Optimize cash management practices to maximize returns.
- Internal Controls: Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud. Implement and enforce financial policies and procedures.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks, developing mitigation strategies to minimize potential losses. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Audit Management: Manage the annual audit process, working with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit. Implement recommendations from audit findings.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure their success. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Strategic Support: Provide financial insights and analysis to senior management to support strategic decision-making. Participate in strategic planning initiatives and provide financial modeling support.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations. Prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis techniques.
- Experience with accounting software systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
